As we celebrate International Women’s Day, our effort to create awareness and elevate conversation about developing the mindset that promoting gender parity intensifies.

It is so exciting to be part of the International Women’s Day theme for 2018 #pressforprogress which has been met with plenty enthusiasm coupled with a lot of male faces joining the campaign, which is a treat to see making this interesting time indeed.

At the wake of an all time high for global pro-women campaigns worldwide ralling behind popular movements such as the #metoo and #time’sup movements, addressing the sexual abuse scandals perpetrated by influential men in the entertainment and film industries.

Get Excited Something Big is Coming!!

Telling women stories has always been at the heart of our mission at I-WIL-B which is exactly what is on the cards for our Emerald members. As a peer network group for women in leadership and business our interests lie in ensuring that our members are given a platform to express fully who they are, what the aim to achieve and their heroin stories of overcoming stereotypes, gender inequality and general societal perceptions.

The notion that women are not associated with leading or running successful businesses and organizations are slowly but surely steering in a new direction of enlightenment. I-WIL-B is dedicated at telling a narrative that has long existed however lacking channels that care to tell the story of a ‘New African Woman’. Leaving us no choice but to tell it in our own words and without fear or favour.

Our Emerald members are the pinnacle point of our success stories, women from all walks of life are making an impact on their society leading by example. These are women who are empowered but equally hungry to be inspired and learn new ways to improve upon their skills, professional career or spiritual journey. In the interest of accomplishing our goals and shining the light on these ‘warrior women’….I-WIL-B has dedicated a bi-monthly Facebook party to our Emerald members.

This is a party like no other as we reveal profiles of women in business and in leadership living ordinary lives while changing lives.

Golf Ready| Why Women should play golf!

If you have been thinking about re-inventing yourself and capturing a new outlook that gives you an added edge about you, then look no further, start playing golf. A lot can be said about the so called ‘gentleman’s game’, with many negative perceptions of elitism, exclusivity and costly lifestyle coupled with much more valuable traits you can gain by becoming a seasoned golfer.

As a golfer and champion for the golf lifestyle, I can add a bit of insight and alleviate the fear or misconceptions that are misleading people in general. Since signing up for a 12 week beginner’s golf program over 10 years ago which costed me about roughly R 3000 at the time through the reputable development program of the ‘World of Golf’.
At the time I was leaving my cozy life of employment and jumped head into the world of being self-employed with very little savings. My thinking at the time was let me spend time with decision makers and use golf as my source of business, without breaking a sweat….so I thought.

I later discovered that there is far more to golf than what I had assumed and more than anything it’s more of an attitude, lifestyle and personal journey that will test your character every 18 hole course you play. The best part about being a woman and playing is that naturally being the flower amongst the thorn….you get plenty of attention without a doubt.
So if you single and fishing….best pond to surf your preferred LSM potential LOL. If you are strictly business rest assured that you will be able to sharpen those acumen skills and adopt sort after values that will be enshrined in your DNA as follows:

-          Trust yourself – a full swing gives you all the elements to raise your confidence level. Trusting your swing is everything to making a perfect shot….if you are iffy, you miss or shank the ball
-          Follow through – plenty of great set up balls or moves have fallen through the cracks all because of no follow through…this is n different to doing business
-          Keep your eyes on the ball – the second you start to look up and focus on where the ball is going you will miss your shot, so stay focused on hitting the ball
-          Your opponent is irrelevant – it always comes down to your handicap and personal score, the next person’s game should not affect your performance, you playing against yourself
-          If you still thinking about your last bad shot – your next shot will mirror your thoughts.
-          Practice makes perfect – the only way to raise the level of your game is to keep playing.

Don’t miss out on your opportunity to have a new outlook on life by learning how to swing at the upcoming I-WIL-B peer network session tagged #BossLadyFriday. I-WIL-B hosts #BossLadyFriday in partnership with 018 Golf campaign towards the “right-to-play’ initiative with proceeds going towards a charity that benefits disadvantaged Day care centers and pre-schools through donation of playgrounds, toy library and sport apparel.  The network session starts at 14h00 at Pecanwood Golf Club at the driving range, followed by cheese and wine and networking till 19h00. Entry fee is R 350 for I-WIL-B members and R 550 for guests. Limited space available. Membership forms will be available at the network session for those who are not yet members.

To be part of #BossLadyFriday please email us i-wil-b@gropmail.com to get an invite and RSVP link.

I look forward to meeting and greeting all of those who are planning to attend #BossLadyFriday

Head Turner 2017

Our outlook for 2017 is centered on truly empowering the phenomenal women with the inspiration to be more on a daily basis. We hope the past year has empowered all our I-WIL-B women, with great insights and growth opportunities through our network of powerful women.

The opportunities are endless for us women and yet we are still lurking behind, somewhat beckoned to our back foot with many societal burdens and our inherent ability to create life places us in a unique but challenging place. We are not incapable of being the bearers of life and still command leading positions in our societies, be it in corporate, cooperative, governance or non-profit capacity. When it comes to leadership we are born with it, so it’s time to act like we know.

The time to become true leaders has arrived as we have technology and social media to break the barriers that ever existed to oppress women in silence. Let’s horn in our voice and represent a bigger voice that will create enough noise for the head turner reaction, we are all yearning for in our lives.

I-WIL-B started the year 2016 with a workshop sponsored by NHBRC and EWSETA that focused on women with interests in construction, Energy and Water sectors. I-WIL-B women were very keen on the energy projects and for that reason the I-WIL-B Talk Event was dedicated to exploring new opportunities in renewable energy. We invited ESKOM to present on the independent power supply programs that have been running as a Department of Energy and Eskom joint initiative. After establishing interest post the presentation an interim task team has been delegated accordingly and we will have an update of the progress in our next Executive Board meeting.  The nature of such projects in economic scale and due process take 10 to 20 years before producing real dividends, and therefore they should be viewed as legacy projects that will bear fruit for our future generation.
An administrative office for the business of I-WIL-B and its holding public company Investing in Women in Business (IWB) holdings, to be in full operation as of June 2016, at which point membership to assist with admin costs will take effect.  IWB Holdings is a Public Company that will represent our interests in business and in community projects.

An Investment portfolio will be developed by an experience Actuary which will be presented to the Executive Board. The Chairperson of the Board will be appointed by the Executive Board by the next EXCO Meeting; this is an internal matter that is not open to scrutiny by public members however members’ interests are well represented by the Executive Board.
Members will have an opportunity to become shareholders and trade with IWB Holdings which is a new Investment arm that will be able to generate income that can fund our businesses and create incentives for women in business.

The membership is linked with an incentive program with partners who will give us discount reward for carrying an I-WIL-B Loyalty Card with our wish list extending to airlines, accommodation, car rentals, insurance, telecommunication, retailers, merchants and women brands that we connect with in our daily lives as business women.

This coupled with our solidified partnership with the Women in Business Association (WIBA) Botswana, we have a direct link to doing business in the thriving economy of Botswana. Access to new markets has been one of our priorities from the launch of I-WIL-B in 2014, we will continue to support each other in our mutually beneficial endeavors.
I-WIL-B plans to expand its reach to the Gauteng, Vaal and Witbank areas where organized Women in Business Chambers are effecting change and making a mark in their communities. This is why the early part of 2017 will be dedicated to network sessions themed “#Boss-babes” in the Gauteng region.

I-WIL-B 2017 prospectus will be distributed accordingly in due course and includes our strategic focus for investment in Women’s Health; Biodiversity & Renewable energy; Property and Resources.   There will be a focus on branding, imaging and fine tuning your leadership identity. All workshops will be conducted at a later stage of the year and which will be open to members for free.

This is a head turner 2017 and we hope you choose to share your 2017 with I-WIL-B peer network group by signing up to be a member, your input as a powerful woman is much needed. Here’s to 2017.

I-WIL-B: TALK EVENT

Never before have we as a society been more compelled to come up with the solutions for our most troubled times of high levels of inequality, violence against women and growing poverty. This coupled with poor governance of our natural resources is demanding much more from all of us as leaders. As a peer network group for women in leadership and business, I-WIL-B has long to acted with a high sense of purpose to steer our communities towards sustainable living. It is founded on women empowerment principles that seek to convene women who mean business, and create a platform of information sharing as well as networking opportunities that will propel our business status through valued growth. The peer network group was founded by BWA Social entrepreneur Award winner, Publicist and Philanthropist Ms Lerato Mosimane who cofounded I-WIL-B in 2010 with her business partner and Vice President of North West Business Forum Ms Sylvia Leabile.

Every year I-WIL-B dedicates its resources towards projects and activities that will speak directly to women related issues, such as sustainable income, renewable resources, access to technology, media, wellness and financial capacity amongst others. This allows women to be at the forefront of driving their social and economic welfare or needs instead of being at the bottom of the value chain.

Women control household purchasing decisions and are responsible for billions generated by consumer goods. This means control of buying power and ounce this buying power is guided by choices that serve our sustenance, then the better positioned we are to make meaningful choices for our children and society.

Advocating for a new outlook on our actions as leaders or women in business, means aligning with companies and organizations that give back to our wellbeing, is top priority. This is only just a sneak peek into the discussions and activities undertaken by I-WIL-B. On the 26th  August 2016 I-WIL-B is hosting a Talk Event in Rustenburg at Keda Lodge to mark the commemoration of Women’s Month and World Entrepreneurship Day.

The Talk event is the first of our documentary sessions where we depict
stories of women in business as part of the international online platform called ‘the Story exchange’ -where women mean business and over 1000 women stories are shared from all over the world.
The Talk event also relates discussions on projects through cooperatives by I-WIL-B women interested in the energy sector and investment opportunities as a growing network capable of generating economies of scale as a holdings group. I-WIL-B members are located predominantly in the North West Province Rustenburg and Mahikeng as well as Gauteng Johannesburg and Tshwane and poised to grow the network nationally. In 2015 a memorandum of understanding was signed between I-WIL-B and the Women in Business Association (WIBA) Botswana that links the network to over 1000 women businesses in Botswana as an export market. These partnerships and associations form the backbone of our network group and will forever be the strategic objective of our growth plan going forward. I-WIL-B is extending an invitation to all women in business and leadership to join our movement and creating the most powerful network group of women. Let’s give women in business and leadership a voice and a memorable face….join us on the 21st August 2016 and start talking. Entry fee is R650. For more information email us I-wil-b@groupmail.com

Modern female business leaders

Let’s remind ourselves that the highest proportion of women with senior positions and roles are in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) nations. This comprises 30% of senior management positions, which is higher than the global average at 24%. I-WIL-B Seminar is dedicated to advocating for women empowerment and the need to embrace gender diversity in the workplace particularly in leadership roles. It is our mission to promote for women pioneers and inspire high quality leadership in the women that we engage with through capacity building workshops or leadership development programs. In commemoration of the 2016 International Women’s day’s theme ‘Pledge for gender parity”, I-WIL-B Seminar will be hosting a breakfast meeting in Rustenburg on the 11th March 2016. The location has since been chosen as a central point to suit the peer network group; with members predominantly in Gauteng and the Bojanala Rustenburg region of the North West Province.
The breakfast meeting is intended to create a platform for strategic thinking and the organizational structure including the adoption of the draft Constitution of I-WIL-B. As a peer network group the idea is to keep it both business as well as leisure which is why we have decided to have a golf clinic for beginners and a 9 hole challenge for the golfers.  We hope to see a lot of vibrant and dynamic women who want to be part of this journey, telling a new story about the progressive women.
There is a lot to be done including identifying the right sponsors and partners who share our vision of a gender-balanced work place. What is really exciting to see is a host of 21st century businesses that make work place more accommodating to women and this tells us that they do recognize their talent potential. This is absolutely encouraging and tells us that sooner than we think we will see the change in mindsets in our society. However it starts with us as women, release your inhibitions and start living your purpose today. Join us on the 11th March in Rustenburg South Africa and make your ‘pledge for parity’ | Email i-wil-b@groupmail.com for an Invitation
